The Bridgman name has been associated with the making and supplying of fine furniture for over half a century. The company established itself as a quality maker of wooden furniture and over the years has designed, produced and sold a wide variety of furniture. Bridgman expanded its premises and staff several times over the decades and located at its current head office in 1983.
Bridgman established itself in an area of north London which at the time was one of the leading places for the manufacture of furniture in the U.K. Bridgman began the production of garden furniture in the late 1980s in its own factories in Enfield, north London. The company had valuable experience gained over many years of manufacturing allowing the company to develop ranges of wooden garden furniture that soon became established as market leaders.
Bridgman developed ranges of traditional garden furniture but with their own unique style and has become well known throughout Europe and beyond. Over the years the development and manufacture of garden furniture, became more and more sophisticated and Bridgman invested heavily in high tech manufacturing equipment and high level computer aided design software to keep the Company at the leading edge of design and manufacture of quality garden furniture.
Much of the manufacturing of Bridgman garden furniture is now carried out overseas to ensure that the furniture remains competitively priced. Bridgman carefully works with its overseas partners for all its ranges of garden furniture, to check that the furniture is made to the highest standards, and to ensure that Bridgman maintains its enviable reputation as a leading supplier of outdoor furniture.
The most significant development for Bridgman in the last 5 years has been their appointment as the exclusive UK, Irish and Middle Eastern distributor of the prestigious Four Seasons range of all weather wicker. The furniture is made using a synthetic wicker that is completely maintenance free.
Bridgman's current ranges of all weather wicker are the largest quality range for sale in the UK. and include large dining sets, small dining sets, bistro tables, relaxing furniture, lounging furniture, companion seats, sofas, bar furniture, and sun beds to mention just a few. Currently available are seven very attractive all weather wicker weaves that are woven onto aluminium frames. The all weather wicker is the perfect material for outdoor use, but is just a suited to be used as conservatory furniture or indoor furniture.

The manufacture of garden furniture worldwide is tiny in comparison to the use of resources for other requirements, yet whilst making and sourcing wooden garden furniture in particular, Bridgman takes the utmost care in not only selecting the best quality woods, but also carries out checks to ensure that the wood used in its garden furniture is responsibly sourced in the country of origin.
The Teak Bridgman uses in the manufacture of high quality garden furniture comes from the island of Java in Indonesia. It is grown in plantations and does not come from tropical rainforests. The plantations are owned and controlled by the Indonesian government department, Perum Perhutani, who manage these plantations, applying a policy of careful cultivation, which began in the nineteenth century and has continued successfully to the present day.
Bridgman has been sourcing Iroko for its high quality garden furniture from West Africa for many years, working mostly in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. By part manufacturing our traditional garden furniture in this region Bridgman allows local companies to add value and place a higher value on the local natural resource.
Bridgman has always tried to encourage these developing countries to adopt environmentally friendly timber policies, and we have visited suppliers personally on many occasions.
The forests in these areas are an integral part of the local economy. It is important that the forests are valued as an important economic asset and properly looked after and the land not cleared for farming or economic development. We have every reason to believe that the tiny amount of wood we source from this region is completely legal.
